Nate Ruess ft Pink has all the qualities of a great rap song. His voice is clear, his flow flows naturally, and his lyrics are often funny and hilarious, even if they're not intended that way. He manages to have an airy tone throughout the song that doesn't sound forced, which is a good thing because there's some heavy content at the end that's going to be hard to get through.
Nate starts out the song with a verse about his relationship, how he got together, and his relationship with his girlfriend. He mentions that she's a little girl who wants him to tell her everything, so he tells her about what she wants to hear. It's mostly about his relationship, but there's also a lot of jabs at his girlfriend that make it all seem a little bit light-hearted. The chorus is just about Nate telling his girl that he loves her and that he's still in love with her.
Nate then ends the song with a verse about the problems he's been dealing with in his relationship, especially with his girlfriend. In this verse, he mentions that he has to stop calling her because she won't give him the time of day anymore. This is one of the most heart-felt verses on the track, and he gives his girlfriend some much-needed closure.
After Nate ends his verse, the beat kicks in and we get the chorus. Nate again makes sure that the beat flows with the flow of his flow, which is a good thing because there's a lot of cursing in the verses. There's even a bit where he mentions that he was in jail before, which isn't really surprising, given that Nate Ruess is a former convict.
The second half of the song features a couple of verses from Nate, where he talks about his relationship with his mother. The mother part seems almost like a joke, but it's also a very touching part. He mentions that she's always been there for him, even when he was just a baby, but he also mentions that he hopes she'll love him even when he's old. As the beat kicks in, Nate mentions that he's in love with her, too, and that he's glad she's here to help him. and love him even though he's not happy.
It's a good track that doesn't come off as forced and instead sounds sincere. It's great to hear Nate rapping about how he feels and how things are and why he thinks they are the way they are.
